Pulsars Win Friday Night Match at Finchley

Despite some of the Pulsars' (AKA Vets) hanging up their boots, they opened their account this season with another clean sheet against Finchley Vets. The score of 38 - 0 is a testament to a strong core team under the guidance of Dave Russell and Chris Lyons, solid tactics and some new faces.

The win was built on the solid platform and strong running of Emmanuel Sonubi, James Galea and Shaun Engelbrecht, with the latter getting on the score sheet for his efforts. Further tries came from the terrible twins, Peter and Philip Rose. Dean Gardener also chipped in with a try and four conversions. However the champagne moment of the match came from Chris Lyons, who burst through the red and white defence, then put in a neat chip in the style of Danny Cipriani and followed up the kick to score a try to the amazement and applause of all on the field. This champagne moment was offset by the comedy (titian) moment of the game, however the exact details of this are disputed!!

However another win for the Pulsars who look forward to their next game against Belsize Park on October 13th. If you fancy getting your boots on again contact Chris Lyons, Dave Russell, or Leighton Thomas.

All that remains is for the Academy to win their game on Sunday to bookend the weekend with victories against Finchley from across the wide spectrum of ages at the Club.
