BATTLE-HARDENED SENIOR ACADEMY SAIL SERENELY ON

The battle-hardened EIRFC Senior Academy Side put their experience to good use by lording their away league game against a combined Hampstead and Hackney side in the Herts-Saracens Colts Division Five showdown at the Heath Extension (Nov 30).

Adding to their initial 29-29 draw with Aylesbury, they have now amassed eight points from a maximum possible ten, and they now look set fair for their next league clash which will see them pitted against Welwyn at Donkey Lane.

It was very much plain sailing for the visitors at the Heath Extension, and despite the spirited efforts of the opposition, they had matters pretty much sewn up at half-time, having crossed the whitewash five times to lead 35-0.

This afforded head coach, Andy Roper, the luxury of being able to rotate his squad in the second period, and although progress was a little slower, the visitors added a further three tries to the ledger to run out handsome 54-0 winners.

Ira opened the try-scoring spree and, although he claimed a second later in the game. It was Micah who claimed the lion’s share of the touchdowns, having crossed the line three times, with Will also proving a handful by weighing-in with a brace.

Scrum-half, Luke Roper, also forced his way over, with Ben having a field day with the boot by stroking over seven conversion attempts.

Andy Roper said: “We scored in the last play of the game and this was important as it put us over the half-century mark, which means that the final result will be filed under the maximum 50-0 scoreline.

“Gethin was the Man of the Match for his all-round contribution around the park. He proved himself to be an effective ball carrier.”
