It's nearly six months, from November 11th to be exact, that building work started on the clubhouse project. As the series of photographs associated with this article will testify there has been such good progress that we are now confident of completing the whole project during the summer break: and even starting the planning of the opening in September.
It's been a challenge to get to the point where we are today, but the pictures will show we have completed the new build, painted the inside and have now knocked through the walls in the existing changing rooms. The overall shape of the new changing rooms is clear for all to see.
So, even though there is still a way to go we would not be so advanced were it not be for the contribution of a number of key people. The RFU have continued with their significant support, not least with their financial contribution through the Impact 25** programme. We have also been well served by the contractor, High Barnet Developments Ltd, but critical to the success to date has been the number of club members who through the companies where they work, work contacts or giving of their own time as volunteers, have ensured the project has kept pace with the schedule.
There will be time to thank all those involved and allow all the club to celebrate the new facilities...in the meantime it's a last push over the next couple of months to see the project through to completion
** The Impact ‘25 Programme, has been delivered by the RFU in partnership with
the UK Government and Sport England, and will see just over £14.5 million
invested across the country providing significant improvements in facilities for the creation of greater opportunities for females. Enfield Ignatians’ grant is one of only a limited number to be awarded to new build or leasehold projects. The project has also been financed by targeted funding by the Club. The additional benefit for our Club is that all teams, not just the female players, will now enjoy more modern and practical changing facilities.
