Ali Cook's illustrious coaching career with Enfield Ignatians came to an end on Saturday (14th April) when the First Team secured a bonus point victory (34 - 15) against Harrow at "The Lane".

Ali Cook enjoyed a successful career as a first team player and probably one of his finest moments was to kick the winning penalty away against Hadleigh in Pilkington Cup in 1996. The Club then went on to reach the national quarter finals that year.

Ali had a first term as coach from 2000 to 2010, ending with a fine win away against Sudbury to earn Enfield Ignatians their highest place at the time, at Level 7. The next few years saw Ali take up refereeing, which he did to a very high standard. He then returned to coach at the club in 2015.

During his years as coach he has been ever present on Tuesday and Thursdays, no matter what the weather, or the numbers who turned up. Under his guidance the First Team have enjoyed a continual presence in the London Two Leagues: some record!The team on Saturday represented the cross section of players Ali has coached over the years, from long standing members like Wes Warren, more recent captains like Keir Bonnar and Jake Bates to a raft of new young players.

From all the layers who have benefitted, the Club says thank you.
