Ignatians draw Hemel in the RFU Intermediate Cup

ENFIELD IGNATIANS will be hoping to celebrate bonfire night in more ways than one when they face Hemel Hempstead in round two of the RFU Intermediate Cup at Donkey Lane on November 5.

The blue and golds have successfully negotiated this stage in the last two seasons after respectively overcoming Tabard and Chiswick. Although the former encounter did go to extra time before Ignatians finally 'broke' spirited Tabard 23-15 with a late try at Donkey Lane.

However, second round promise evaporated in the third round on both occasions after Twickenham (17-10) and Romford & Gidea Park (20-10) put paid to our ambitions.

Ignatians did marginally better in the 2008-09 season when we progressed to the fourth round after respective 21-19 and 37-10 wins over Grasshoppers and Fullerians.

However, an agonising last minute penalty meant that St Albans took our place in the fifth round after shading visiting Ignatians 21-19.
