ENFIELD IGNATIAN STARS IN COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP

CAIRO SANGO, the Enfield Ignatians’ winger, was part of the Herts U20S squad which has reached the Jason Leonard County Championship semi-finals in the wake of the 28-19 win over Cornwall at Cheshunt.

In a hard-fought contest, Herts led 21-12 at half-time and they made the game safe in the second period with a converted try to earn a home semi-final against Lancashire on April 14th.

A graduate of the Ignatians’ youth system, Cairo Sango said: “The game went very well – [and] we came out very hard and strong, [but] we let things slip a little just before half-time.
“We came out [firing] in the second-half again before slipping off towards the end, but we managed to hold them out again which gave us the win.”

Herts reached a similar stage last season, and their triumphant march to the last four began in the pool stages with wins over Sussex (24-19), Eastern Counties (43-20) and Kent (31-29).
