After months of hard work on an innovative approach to the coaching structure, the Club are now able and excited to announce the appointment of two new coaches who will bring to the Club a different and dynamic style. This innovative approach is combining the best of new coaching thinking from the modern professional game, combined with tried and tested success over a number of years.
Ben Meehan joins us as First Team coach. Ben is currently a regular member of the London Irish Premier League squad and played at scrum half in the Exiles first game at Bath on the 15th August. Ben has had experience in Super Rugby in Australia in the Queensland Reds Academy.Then ahead of the 2014 season he was named as a member of the Melbourne Rebels extended playing squad. He made his Super Rugby debut during the Rebels against the Cheetas on 28 February 2014. He joined London Irish in 2017.
Ian Hembrow joins us in the role of Coach and Player Development. Ian played his rugby at a high level in Wales and has many years experience of coaching, including with the Ospreys and Maesteg. His wide remit will include forwards coach for the 1st team as well specific skill development for individuals.
Ben and Ian will be taking their first training session at the Club on the 27th August at 7.30.
The Senior Section also has a number of other appointments. Ben Mills (photo) takes over as 1st Team Vice Captain. The 2nd XV have a new captain in Ken Carroll and Vice Captain in Jake Baker. Jason Braganza has had confirmed his position as 2nd XV Manager. Steve Renny continues as captain of the mighty 3rd XV and he is joined by John Georgiou as Vice Captain
