The Enfield Ignatians’ girls section has readily embraced the concept of the Waterfall Tournaments, as the show moved to Fullerians following stop-offs at Royston, Cheshunt and EIRFC.

Due to illness in the camp, just one U15s representative made the trip. A relative newcomer to the game, Tallyia stepped-up to the mark by playing in a 15 aside game with the host side Fullerians against Harpenden, and she will no doubt benefit from the experience.

The U13s joined forces with their Harpenden counterparts and they were involved in games against Fullerians (two wins from two) and a strong Berks & Bucks outfit which resulted in two defeats in as many games.

The Ignatians’ girls attacked in their usual confident and direct fashion with Niamh and Emeka making the big carries, and Dolly, Emma and Grace providing the continuity with their rucking and distribution.

In addition to a typically industrious display from these relative veterans of the game, Renee marked a very promising debut following a number of excellent carries. She always appeared to be in the thick of the action.

Steve Corcoran said: “These Waterfall Tournaments have been an excellent addition to the girls’ fixture list as, apart from affording them more opportunities to test their skills, they are forging ties with girls from the other clubs on the circuit which is also good to see.

“It is clear that the other clubs are superior in terms of sheer numbers, but I can honestly say that each of the Ignatians’ girls performs well above expectations in terms of their contributions on the pitch - which is a credit to their coaches Tom, Tremaine and Sharon.”
