ENFIELD IGNATIANS again espoused the sevens circuit last weekend where they made it through to the Plate final – only to suffer defeat at the hands of one of the Barnet Elizabethasn teams 7-3 – in the House of Hope Sevens hosted by Saracens Amateurs RFC (July 9)
Given that the blue and golds’ playing resources were down to the bare bones, and injuries to Jack O'Toole and new recruit Mano (winger) certainly threw a spanner in the works, as Barnet led 5-3.
However, the legs of a young and fast Barnet outfit spoke loud and clear, and they added a two further tries late on in the game to run out convincing winners.
Sevens specialists, and something of a nomadic outfit, The Wild Dogs Impi and the Wild Dogs Alpha, contested the final.
Ignatians squared up to the latter in the pool stages and were far from disgraced despite a 7-3 defeat.
The blue and golds also contested the Hendon Sevens in April when they won one of the consolation finals.
