(U13s) The in-form U13s did themselves proud by picking up some silverware in the wake of landing a four-way tournament for this age group at Wanstead RFC, Woodford Green, on Friday evening (March 8), writes Jonathan Landi.

Team 1 of this age group didn’t put a foot wrong after winning all their three games, and namely Wanstead (15-0), Saffron Walden (25-0) and Chelmsford (15-0).

Team 2 of the same section similarly caught the mood after delivering a clear round in the home tri-fixture at Donkey Lane (March 10) following wins against Letchworth (20-0) and Barnet (20-5)

Coach Dave Russell said: “The Man of the Match award was shared by Noah and John, on their debuts, with fantastic performances in attack and defence. “

(U16s) The U16s paid the price for their slow start by losing the Herts-Middlesex Division 6 away derby against Hackney 22-17 at Spring Hill (March 10). Emmanuel, Gabriel and James all crossed for the visitors, with the first-named player adding the extras.

A full report will be published in the relevant match reports’ section.

(U15s) The U15s lost an away humdinger against Aylesbury 15-14. Alex crossed for the visitors who were also awarded a penalty try. Ben added the extras.

In a game of very fine margins, Ignatians led 7-5 at the break, but they ran out of steam in the final quarter when the greater numbers of the Aylesbury bench swung the pendulum the way of the home side.

Still, Ignatians can look forward to the rematch with Aylesbury which marks this age group’s final game of the season at Donkey Lane on May 5.

They can also look forward to a busy run-in with the U15s completing their league season against Dunstablians on Sunday 17 March this side of Easter.

In the post Easter period, they have a run of home games, which Aylesbury apart (see above), will see them successively entertain Hemel Hempstead (April 7), Datchworth (April 14) and Barnet (April 21).

(Girls U18s) A contingent of Enfield Tigers U18s ‘clustered’ with Harpenden and, playing in the colours of the latter club, they beat their Fullerians U18s counterparts 31-10 at Redbourn Lane.
