Letter from the RFU sent to the Club
19th January 2024
I wanted to be in touch with Enfield Ignatians RFC to say how very sad everyone at the RFU
was to hear of the recent death of your much-loved young player, Lucas Yoxall.
I know that the club recently paid a rugby tribute to this talented flanker at Donkey Lane when his team was playing Hitchin and was spurred on by his spirit.
To have lost a valued player who had been with the club since he was 11 years old must have had a real affect on all who knew Lucas, particularly as his death was so sudden and he was such a kind, popular and talented young man.
His tremendous spirit and try scoring ability will remain long in everyone’s memory and I
know a bench outside the clubhouse he loved spending time in with teammates will be a lasting tribute.
Lucas will be a big loss to your club and to our sport. I am, however, mindful that our loss
won’t compare to that of his family. If you think it appropriate, please do pass this letter on to his father, Mark.
Yours sincerely,
Rob Briers,
RFU President
