RUGBY NEWS: OCTOBER 3
It proved a very tough day at the office for Enfield Ignatians as a new look team featuring six Senior Academy debutants suffered a heavy and chastening 96-19 away defeat against Harrow in their first league game of the season at Wood Lane, writes Jonathan Landi.
Despite the magnitude of the defeat and copping two yellow cards, Ignatians had their moments and they were at their best in the first-half when they claimed two tries via Man of The Match and number eight Sam Rushmer (pictured) and fly-half Jack O’Toole.
Scrum-half Daniel Shaw also showed well up from tee by rifling over two conversions.
Given a bit more composure at key moments, Ignatians could have added a rescued a try losing bonus point from the wreckage but it wasn’t to be.
Trailing 49-19 at the interval, Ignatians barely fired a shot in the second-half as the wheels came off, with a rampant Harrow filling their boots by adding a further seven tries to the ledger; all a very far cry from the two hard-fought games between the two sides last season.
A full report will be published in due course.
Next up are Hammersmith and Fulham IIs.
