Message from Phillip Browne (CEO, Try Tag Rugby)

Dear Tag Rugby Player,

With the glorious weather all over the capital, London’s Tag Rugby players have been dusting off their boots and getting back onto the pitch. Competitions are now underway at Finsbury Park, Balham and Wandsworth, with Gladstone Park set to kick off tomorrow night. At the post match venues, players have also been swapping stories and getting to know their new team mates and opposition over a cold drink or two.

There are still opportunities to join Tag Rugby competitions across London:

- Finsbury Park Ladies – Competition begins May 6th, teams and individuals are still encouraged to sign up. If you are a female player who has registered to play in another competition, don’t forget the half price offer to take part in this competition.

- Shepherd’s Bush – beginning next Tuesday 4th May, mixed teams and individuals are still welcome to sign up. Teams are required to register by lunch time on the 29th April, individuals are encouraged to register ASAP.

- Bermondsey – Beginning May 10th, this mixed competition is approaching capacity, so get in fast to avoid missing out

- Balham & Wandsworth – Round 1 was a great success with 12 mixed teams taking the pitch across the 2 venues. Individual players are still required for some squads, so please get in touch if you would still like to join.

- Finsbury Park Men’s & Mixed – 14 teams are taking part between the 2 competitions. We still have opportunities for individual men to join the men’s comp, and ladies to join the mixed comp.

- Gladstone Park – Northwest London’s Tag Rugby competition kicks off tomorrow night. We still have opportunities for ladies to be added to a few squads.

On the representative front the past month has been busy with the London England team running up a big score against the London Ireland team 17-4. Check out some of the videos on our website from the match. Honours were shared at the Anzac Sports Challenge with the Aussie’s winning the men’s fixture 14-5, before NZ got their revenge in the mixed 13-10.

As well as the weekly competitions there is plenty of Tag Rugby activity over the coming months:

23-05-2010 - International Tag Rugby tournament (London England, London Ireland, London Aust, London NZ) at Twickenham coinciding with the London Rugby Union 7’s.

29-05-2010 - Rochdale International Mixed Tag Rugby Festival – Places on the bus are filling up for this all action weekend in Manchester.

Late June – Late summer Tag Rugby competitions begin across London
