(December 14) The U16s, the unbeaten leaders in in Herts-Middlesex Division Three, played some scintillating rugby following the 63-12 demolition of Saracens B at the Bramley Sports Ground.
Smartly into their stride, the visitors had matters sewn up at half-time, having rocketed their way to a 41-0 lead.
Inevitably the initial helter-skelter pace died a little in the second-half, but Ignatians still managed to score 22 points, whereas Sarries rallied for a couple of consolation tries, in an absorbing encounter which was very easy on the eye.
Ignatians, having burst the bubble of the only other hitherto unbeaten team in the division, crossed the whitewash ten times and they were also awarded a penalty try.
The scorers were Ciaran, Patrick (two), Sammy (three), George, Cian, Chenitha and Josh. Patrick also landed three conversions.
Coach Steve Corcoran said: “I must admit that I hadn’t seen that coming especially as we were very flat in the warm-up, but we played some magnificent rugby and particularly so in the first-half.”
(Senior Academy) The Enfield Ignatians Senior Academy wrapped up all five points, having secured a 45-0 default win against visiting Welwyn in Herts-Middlesex Colts Division Five.
This is because the visitors were unable to field a full complement.
The game still went ahead, reverting instead to a friendly, with Ignatians ‘loaning’ the visitors three players to make up the numbers, and the outcome was a 17-10 win for the hosts.
Isiah, Kaya and Micah all crossed for Ignatians with Lescine adding a conversion.
The Senior Academy are similarly unbeaten in their league.
FULL REPORTS on both games will be published on the website.
