FRIENDLY: SECOND TEAM REPORT
ENFIELD IGNATIANS 24 HATFIELD 43
Sightings of the second team have been rare this season but they are still in existence, and so a big pat on the back to all those which managed to put together the bare bones of a team, although ultimately defeat ensued against Hatfield.
In standby mode after Watford cried off, Ignatians did at least a half a team on Saturday morning, with eight players putting their hands up, and with our playing resources bolstered by a couple of additions from our friends at Finsbury Park, and Hatfield kindly loaning us a couple of players, we did at least have a game.
Again, one must salute the efforts of the likes of Ken Carroll and Jake Baker, and the message is clear: as, in this age of dwindling playing resources, the use of social media clearly has a big role to play when it comes to sourcing players from other clubs who otherwise might want game time.
It should also be stressed that this is a two-way street as the club also needs to be prepared to release players to other clubs in the their hour of need. Better that than players turning their back on the game permanently…
On another positive note, some good rugby was played and the four try scorers (as supplied) were Patrick (two), David and Lawrence Loo. Alfie Fordham added two conversions. Roll on the next game…
