Derby clashes are meant to be tight, close-fought affairs. Only ten points separated the teams the last time they met at Bramley Road, but it was Ignatians who again won local bragging rights after the gulf became an abyss in what was the third team team's most satisfying and productive victory of the campaign.
Ignatians let rip in this game and, such was their all consuming dominance, that Sarries must have scarcely known what had hit them. Captain Bish Galloway explained: "We ran in three tries in the first ten minutes and were very much on top in the forwards and backs."
Galloway led the scoring stakes by claiming four scores while vice-captain Anthony Clare (twice), Chris Byrne, James Power, Andy Davies, Dan Jones and Phil Sanders all muscled their way over in what proved a very one-sided derby affair. In fact, the score might have been heavier still as Adam Collins was held-up over the line.
Anthony Clare was later nominated Man of the Match following another sterling effort in what has proved a bonanza season.
Although the main action was going on the main first team match, where the firsts entertained Stowmarket, there was more than just a passing interesting in this game not least because of the presence of Cor Von Mollendorff. The Namibian centre has struggled after his injury problems of two seasons ago and, although clearly short of peak fitness, he put in a decent round.
