A sparkling hat-trick from Andy Roper allied to a try from Hadee Fayaz enabled the threes to lord it over visiting Bishop's Stortford, but, above all, it served as an invaluable morale booster after the side began the day at the foot of the table. Having dropped down a league this season, it's not where the threes aspire to be.
However, having been hit hard by a six point deduction, the threes gave themselves an all important shot in the arm.
Captain Roper had a big influence on proceedings and he did what he does best by keeping the visiting defence very busy. Cashing-in on some sterling work by the pack, he sniped over from close range three times, although Bishop's were no pushovers and it was all to play for at half-time at 12-5.
A further try from Roper, added to a score from former colt Fayaz, enabled the threes to win fairly cosily in the end.
Roper had particular praise for the Fayaz-Rondel Bernard partnership a centre. "They played particularly well and asked a lot of questions of the opposition."
