Ignatians too Strong for Bishop's Stortford

A triumphant start for the boys on Saturday, 52 - 15 against Bishops Stortford. We played 4 quarters and had to lend them 2 players.

Highlights for me were to start with, the fact that we were represented by players from 5 decades - teenagers to mid 50's! As was always going to be the case, we started solidly at scrum time courtesy of the BRB and Pearcie, thanks also to Richard for putting your hand up to hook. From here, our basic pattern of hitting up a couple of times before stretching them wide trying to get the ball to Ohio and Bish seemed to be working well, although our first points came from a 30 metre pick and drive from the Pearce master.... sorry, typo, read 3 metre. We had a quiet 2nd quarter scoring only once and conceding 2 but come the 2nd half we started to play some really nice rugby. The backs got their hands on the ball and with Bish and Dan making space, Adrian was on hand to score 3 fantastic tries, the pick of them probably the last one where we turned the ball over in our 22, went down the line, broke through and then linked back up with the forwards again before Adrian ran through under the posts.

8 tries in all, Adrian Arthur 3, Pearcie with 2, Moose, Brian Galvin and Richard North 1.

3rd place - Paul Winship, 80 mins, great line out work, hit rucks really well and some nice carries

2nd place - Phil Pearce - 80 mins and on hand in the 80th to link up with the last try break...

1st Place, Adrian - Awesome running, played 1st half for them and they must have regretted not giving you more ball to work with, 3 tries in the 2nd half for us.. BOOM!
