HERTS-MIDDLESEX DIVISION FOUR NORTH-EAST
THE NUMBERS FAIL TO STACK UP FOR THE THREES
ST ALBANS IIs 42 ENFIELD IGNATIANS IIIs 10
It proved to be a tough day in the office for the third team and, with the visitors eventually reduced to 13, it was hardly surprising that St Albans IIs cashed in.
In a one-sided first-half, St Albans, with playing resources to spare, lorded it on the scoreboard by rocketing into a 30-0 lead.
Ignatians, largely playing for pride, dug-in during the second-half which was a far more even affair with ex colt Nathaniel salvaging a modicum of pride by going over for the first of the visitors’ two tries.
This prompted a response from the home side in the form of a further two tries – one of which was converted.
Again, Ignatians responded and, after a stellar last 20 minutes in which they were the better side, some great forward momentum created the platform for Wayne Bloomfield to crash over.
The sides have clashed three times this season with St Albans IIs 2-1 ahead in the private duels’ department.
