THREES ARE COMEBACK KINGS AGAINST LETCHWORTH

ENFIELD IGNATIANS IIIs 29 LETCHWORTH IIIs 17

The threes did very well to retrieve the situation against a decent Letchworth IIIs outfit. The visitors certainly looked set fair after extending their lead to 12 points at one point, but the hosts had other ideas by fashioning a sterling comeback.

The visitors certainly began the game brightly and were rewarded for their diligent approach, having bagged a 12-5 half-time lead at the Donkey Lane arena, although the blue and golds kept in touch after the forwards exerted some great pressure which resulted in prop Matt Pollard going over.

Ignatians remained in the hunt via a solitary try but it looked ominous in the second period when Letchworth forged further ahead to lead 17-5.
However, it proved the cue for a great fight back from Ignatians with the blue and golds claiming successive tries via Jason Johnston and Dean Gardner to level matters at 17-17.

Having recovered their self-belief, Ignatians weren’t about to let-up and, playing on Letchworth’s frustrations, they put the game beyond reach after John Georgiou and ex colt Jacob Wackett both crossed as the hosts turned the game on its head.

Spokesman Adam Collins said: “This was a great precursor for next week’s game against Hendon, when we hope to continue our winning ways.”

Apologies if some of the details are incomplete. We hope to rectify these in due course.
