THREES’ MELTING POT PROVES RECIPE FOR SUCCESS
ENFIELD IGNATIANS IIIs 57 BARNET ELIZABETHANS IIs 24
After the threes’ game against Cuffley IIs got cancelled, there was never any question of the the team lying idle, and they reaped the rewards after they arranged up a friendly and made good use of the occasion by blooding a number of new players.
In addition to the experienced heads, the threes will be pleased with the good showings of backrower Dom (surname not supplied) and two newcomers to the game: Dom Rodney and Mapheon Dube. Indeed, Dom played a stormer as he crossed four times and he certainly has a lot to offer the game.
Both Dom Rodney and Mapheon Dube, the two debutants, were treated to a ‘Moose’ refresher course before the game. It certainly paid off as both enjoyed the experience with the latter even claiming a try.
The ‘colts’ contingent also continue to do well and there were further meaningful contributions from try scorer Matteo Ferrari, Odane Linton, Jack Cook-Smith and Stanley Adepegba-Ogidan.
Barnet physically dwarfed the smaller Ignatians’ team and, at one point, were even in front. However, the visitors began to wilt badly in the spring sunshine and the predominantly younger and fitter Ignatians’ legs were invariably quicker to the breakdown, and with the floodgates opening, the blue and golds feasted on a plentiful supply of good ball as the points flowed.
Steve Renny is hoping to build on this experience when the side entertain Hertford IVs in the Herts-Middlesex Merit Table Four clash against on April 6th.
