Reports Jonathan Landi

The threes came into the game with a real spring in their step after the rousing Derby win against Old Grammarians, and the away day at St Albans proved equally profitable after the visitors again came away with the loot, writes Jonathan Landi.

Captain Steve Renny said: "We were really pumped-up after last week's win (against Old Gramms) and clearly in a mood to win again. Our forwards really set the tempo with some forceful runs, and we were also mighty effective at the breakdown, and it was no surprise that we were in front after five minutes."

Setting their stall out early, the rampant blue and golds were soon on the scoresheet via Dutchman Dave Korthals.

The score was converted by Dave Conlan whose boot again punished the hosts via a successful penalty strike after St Albans were punished for some ill-discipline at the breakdown.

The threes machine continued to fire on all cylinders and, against the backdrop of turnover ball in the lineouts and scrums, Adam Collins, was the next to go over. He was followed by Lewis White whose short-range effort was the culmination of some ferocious pressure close to the St Albans' line.

There was no let-up and the blue and golds' war machine made further eloquent statements via Tom Hoy and the in-form Eron Dottin-Wilson.

With the game in the bag, Ignatians had recourse to a secret weapon, or so they thought, in the form
of veteran centre, Clive Alexander. One of life's nice-guys, his introduction lasted all of two minutes
before being yellow-carded for a high-tackle.

St Albans capitalised on Ignatians' numerical inferiority with a two try salvo. Not that it was every going to change the course of the game, as the visitors' successfully regrouped by reverting to dominant mode as they successfully closed out the game.

Steve Renny summed up: "It was a great team display and a great win."
