The threes, a real pastiche of experience and colts tasting their first experience of senior rugby,
gave visiting Black Horse a thoroughly uncomfortable ride at Donkey Lane.
Indeed, the rookie elements in the Ignatians' side, Frazer Briers, Euan Renny (good lineout presence), Femi Adeosun (who was sadly hors de combat after getting injured), James Charles and Lucas Yoxall, more than held their own against one of the better sides in the division.
Playing out of position on the wing, Briers, a loose forward by trade, relished the experience and, when Sam Barnes rifled out a long pass, the Middlesex youth player made the best of the space afforded him by running in for the try as the defence was nowhere to be seen.
Lewis White, a former youth player now firmly ensconsed in senior ranks, also enjoyed a profitable afternoon. All bristling power, he twice forced his way over as he claimed a brace..
Not that there was a great deal between the sides, although Black Horse were more fluent behind the scrum and that, ultimately, was the difference between the sides.
A mention must also go to the 'experienced heads' in the side with the selfless Steve Renny, who has been battling sciatica problems, even doing his bit for the cause by covering for the injured Adeosun when needed.
