THREES EMERGE WITH HONOUR AFTER EARLY LUTON ONSLAUGHT

There were a times when the Threes looked a little out of the depth against an ambitious and dynamic side. However, that Ignatians managed to eventually keep the score line respectable was down to a brave fight back which yielded three tries.

The first-half was primarily a one sided affair as Luton moved through the gears and ran-in five tries to lead 29-7 at the break. Ignatians' face-saving try in this period was scored by Stuart Blemings with the proud Cornishman helping set a blueprint for the visitors.

The heavy-hitters in the side continued to flourish after the break and the script was a simple one: inject a bit of pace to gain ground before deferring to the pack to finish off. It served the visitors mighty well and so much so that the visitors won the second-half 14-12.

Seyi Adeosun, seemingly an almost permanent scorer at this level, was the next to cross for Ignatians before Dan Betts enjoyed his moment of glory by going over for his side's third.

Captain Steve Renny said: "I was really chuffed by the effort of the team. The pack played really well and it was source of comfort to me that the opposition coach came up to me afterwards and said 'your forwards kept you in the game.' I thought we were going to take a real hammering at one point but we dug-in and did well against a top three team."
