HERTS-MIDDLESEX MERIT TABLE FOUR NORTH-EAST
THREES PLAY SECOND FIDDLE TO A WELL OILED MACHINE
ST ALBANS IIs 56 ENFIELD IGNATIANS IIIs 14
It proved a tough day in the office for the threes with its young contingent, but perhaps it will prove to be an invaluable learning curve for the future, and particularly in defence.
The early portents weren’t good as a shoulder injury forced off Sam Barnes after 20 minutes, and a well-oiled machine heavily taxed the Ignatians’ defence in the form of a flurry of tries.
However, the visitors did have their moments and the highlights were a couple of penalty tries, which were accumulated in each half.
Still, Ignatians’ defensive alignment left a little to be desired at times, and St Albans were too good a side not to cash in. Time for thought gentlemen.
