HERTS-MIDDLESEX MERIT TABLE FOUR NORTH-EAST
A TOPSY TURVY WEEK FOR THE THREES…
ENFIELD IGNATIANS IIIs 12 HENDON IIs 69
It proved to be a week of contrasts for the mighty Threes and the good news is that the no show of Black Horse means that they have wrapped up the semi-final spot in the league’s plate competition on April 4, when they will travel to Bedfordshire to face Biggleswade IIs.
In theory they had also hoped to end the week on a high in the league clash against Hendon IIs, having shaded the away clash 20-19 in September. However, from the blue and golds’ perspective the game become something of a car crash as they suffered a heavy defeat, although they did rally for two late tries.
It didn’t help that the clubhouse became something of a casualty ward as Frazer Briers (suspected broken arm), Wes Warren (leg injury) and Ted Stuart (concussion) were all forced to leave the field, as the beleaguered blue and golds were eventually reduced to 14 men.
However, the threes are aiming to draw a line under this by moving on as quickly as possible. Captain Steve Renny said: “We are aiming to finish as high as we can in the league, and we also have the cup semi-final to focus on. Our immediate priority is the next game against Cuffley IIs.”
