ENFIELD IGNATIANS IIIs - 5 WESTON I - 14 (HERTS-MIDDLESEX MERIT TABLE FOUR NORTH-EAST)

It was a bit of a frustrating one for the threes as, they were unable to transfer the dominance of their pack into something more tangible, and consequently Weston carried the day in a low scoring affair at Donkey Lane.

The visitors just about shaded the first-half 7-0 with a handling error being a contributory factor to Weston’s opening score.

However, Ignatians regrouped strongly after the break, and they managed to fashion a pushover score after a surge from the blue and gold pack provided the platform for number eight Adam Baxter to plunge his way over from the base.

Having moved to within an ace of sharing the lead, Ignatians then had to deal with a purple patch of the visitors. The home team didn’t help themselves by having a player sin-binned, and Weston cashed in during this period to claim a backs’ try.

Weston added a second conversion to pull nine points clear, and although Ignatians ended the game by laying siege to the visitors’ line, they were unable to make that all important breach, as the referee blew the final whistle.

Despite the defeat, Ignatians can be pleased with some sterling contributions, and not least scrum-half Louie Sellick who continued his good run of form.
