(Oct 25) The Enfield Tigers – Old Grammarians U14s cluster combined to great effect to lord the Plate final of a girls’ rugby tournament, the Saracens ARFC Sonics Charity Shield, at the Bramley Sports Ground, Southgate.
Playing under the banner of the Old Grammarians Unicorns, the cluster lost their opener against Stanfordians 17-5, but subsequent 31-0 and 27-5 wins over the Valkyries and Woodford enabled them to progress to the plate final.
The unrelenting Unicorns, ending on a high, subsequently completed a hat-trick of wins by dominating the Saracens ARFC Sonics 22-0 in the final.
For the record, the Tigers' contingent comprised Maryam, Mabel, Isabella and Saiorse.
The Enfield Tigers U16s also caught the mood by beating the Canvey Valkyries 49-45 in a friendly played at Donkey Lane.
